The star has donated the entirety of his £25k honor cash to the trust for venues, which operates to save the Britain's grassroots music venues.

He was given the cheque on 16 October as his latest record his work was named the top album of the past year.

The musician has chosen to give the cash to the Music Venues Trust, in recognition of the crucial part local spots fulfilled in his early career.

"I wouldn't be doing my current career if it wasn't for all the performances I did around the region, and further afield, when I was starting out," remarked the artist. "These spaces are legendary, but they are in difficulty."

Since the start of 2023, more than 150 of these venues have ceased operations – roughly one-sixth of the total UK scene.

Recently, well-known musicians such as the band Pulp, Coldplay, Katy Perry and Sheeran have all aided the MVT in its attempts to help venues survive, by applying a small levy to their admission fees, which benefits smaller concert halls.

Sam Fender also participated, raising in excess of £100,000 on his recent tour to help 38 local spots across England, Scotland, and Wales.

The money helped locations that were facing potential shutdown due to difficulties caused by flooding, fire incidents and personal losses, as well as regulatory hurdles, legal disputes and neighbor objections.

Some locations received financial assistance in upgrading infrastructure and sound and lighting systems that directly benefitted musicians and concertgoers.

"The idea that money from performances in big venues backs the independent spots, where it kicks off for performers like me, is just sensible," Sam Fender has stated.

The musician is among several artists to donate his award winnings to worthy causes.

When Pulp earned the award in 1996 for their record Different Class, vocalist the singer stated that the group would give their prize money to the charity War Child.

During 2002, musician Ms Dynamite split her bounty across multiple good causes, like the children's charity and a Sickle Cell charity.

"Additionally, I gave a grand to my local community centre, to their gymnastics class, because I trained in gymnastics when I was growing up and they needed updated gear," the artist shared with a publication.

Two years ago, they contributed their funds to the community center that developed their group, alongside other local music groups.

Also the 1994 recipients they gave their winnings to a charity for MS after a close contact was diagnosed the condition.

"Winning was ample," remarked vocalist the singer. "The money was the extra but we could do without the extra, because we had the main prize. So our victory touched another person's life."

In the past week, the trust revealed it had saved two small stages in that region, by placing them under local control.

The Joiners in Southampton and The Croft in the city were purchased under the community ownership scheme, which is supported by Arts Council England and enthusiasts who buy "stakes" in the properties.
